Bob Schalkwijk was born on the 6 of May of 1933 in Rotterdam, Holland. He moved to Mexico in February of 1958. He is interested in photography since he is l4 years old; he studied in Holland and the United States to become a professional photographer. In Mexico anthropological photography fascinated him; he works mainly in Hidalgo, Chiapas and Chihuahua. While first taking photos for publicities, in 1971 he began to concentrate more in photography for books, catalogues, interactive photo projects for museums and exhibitions.
